New "Garden Quilt" Pattern Give-a-way

Copyright Amy Bradley Designs 2013

For all you garden lovers this is our brand new pattern "Garden Quilt".  It is fourteen fusible appliqued blocks and four pieced Ohio star corner blocks.  We put prairie points around the edge because I always wanted to do that on a quilt.  This quilt was perfect for them.

This is the red and blue version of the "Garden Quilt".

I am now working on a third quilt.  I will be repeating the pink version.  We always make three of everything I design.  They are always traveling around with quilt shops for shows and shop hops.  I rarely get to see them the first two years that the pattern is out.

My friend Rosie Mayhew did the bucket of flowers block using striped and plaid fabric that came from old shirts.  She collects all sorts of old shirts that she buys from thrift store and garage sales to cut up and make quilts.  I love every one of the quilts that she has made from the shirts!

Our big quilt market was this last weekend and my daughter Ashley and I stayed home instead of attending.  My son-in-law was in agreement to this.  He would have been really busy with twins and a 5 year old for the five days that it takes to travel and attend quilt market.

Instead my husband and I attended a costume dance to benefit breast cancer awareness here in Lawrence.  My cowboy/veterinarian showed up as a cowboy...how original.  I came up with my costume in 5 minutes so I wasn't much better.  I wish the photo of me showed the red and white polka dot dress that my mom wore in college.  I wore these big red clip on earrings from the eighties.  How did we ever wear clip on earrings?!  My ears still hurt from wearing those darn things.  We want to attend the event next year but I hope we will be a little bit more creative with our costumes.

This pink fire truck was out in front of the dance.  Breast cancer survivors were signing the truck and the firemen were all dressed in pink.

I shot this photo of a pumpkin hay bale in Gridley, Kansas this week.  This is a common decoration for Kansas.  I doubt if you see these in downtown L.A., Las Vegas or New York City.

Leave a comment about your Halloween costume, a favorite decoration or a tradition for a chance to win one of my new "Garden Quilt" patterns.  We will let you know who wins next week.

Have a great Halloween!  Amy

  1. I just think the pink fire truck is awesome!! And firemen in pink, would have loved to have seen that. We use to do the haybales like that - rows of them. ANd stack 3 in the white shrink wraps for giant snowmen for Christmas

  2. I love your garden quilt, my sister would be over the fence happy to receive it as a gift! I also absolutely LOVE the Halloween quilt.. same sister is an October baby.. My Halloween tradition is to dress up so that when the trick or treaters come by they are SURPRISED! One year I was Cruella Divelle, the children were stunned.

  4. Beautiful, beautiful quilt! My favorite costume as a child was as a witch. I still remember it(50 years later). I wore black tights, a black skirt with a really full slip underneath and the parts that were bought were the cape and eye mask. I remember thinking I was so scary. I look at the pictures now and realize I wasn't, but that feeling was so good.

  5. Awesome pink fire truck. My favorite decorations are these wonderful fabric stuffed pumpkins I made last year. The stems are made from pieces of tree limbs. And the leaves are made of different colored fabrics

  6. Your garden quilt is beautiful! Love your designs and I'd love to make this. Think you and your hubby are a darling pair. Awesome pink firetruck! I have not dressed up for Halloween for several years now. Last year my grandson was two years old and he dressed up in a Monsters Inc. costume, a big furry Sully. He had so much fun he wore the costume for the whole next week, hehe. This year he is going as a Ninga Turtle and I'm sure he will be wearing it for days after as well.

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

  7. Wow!! I adore your new quilt! It is so darling!!! My favorite Halloween decoration is, of course, the big Happy Halloween quilt of your design hanging in my front room. I get so many comments on it and everyone loves it!!

  8. Work likes everyone to partake so I dressed up as a surgeon just about to enter surgery. When I serviced a PC I would leave a prescription with a small bag of jelly beans.
I enjoyed the children that came into the office to get some goodies. Cute costumes.

  11. Absolutely love "The Garden Quilt"; you did good! For Halloween I was a working witch embellishing a darling witches hat and donning a cute Halloween apron so I could attend the fun and delightful WitchFest at historic Gardner Village, West Jordan, UT.

  14. My whole neighborhood gathers up the kids and adults and go for an old fashion hay ride as kids go from house to house trick or treating. It's a very fun tradition including old fashion tractors and wagons.

  15. What a beautiful quilt! My fav halloween costume has to be the one I wore when I was about 4 years old - mom dressed me and my little brother as gypsys. Everytime I see the picture I smile!
