Quilt Show Photos - Kaw Valley Quilt Guild

My Quilt Guild the Kaw Valley Quilters here in Lawrence Kansas put on their annual quilt show this past weekend.  I haven't put quilts in the show for years because I am always getting ready for market.  I put in six quilts.  Whoopee!  We are not attending market this year because of the birth of my daughters Ashley's twins also this last weekend.  With all the excitement I barely had time to see the quilt show.  I took a sampling of quilt photos quickly.  I want to apologize ahead of time for the photography.  In my haste to see the show I didn't square up the quilts in my viewfinder very well.  I couldn't get back far enough to take the photo on some of the quilts because I was bumping into another quilt rack.  So here goes.....enjoy!

Georgann Eglinski was our featured Quilter

Barbara Brackman is in our guild.  Super Cool huh!

One of my six that I took.

That is all!  Of course there were so many more but I tried to give you a quick overview of the quality of quilters that I have in my guild.  The talent in this guild is AMAZING!

Have a great week!  Amy

The Twins are here!!!!

My new grand kids, the twins Nate and Norah arrived very early Saturday morning on April 6th.  I got the call at 12:30 pm on Friday to meet them at the hospital.  I was to take the above big sister Rowan to my house.  She was too wound up and so was I to go to sleep.  I read her several books and one peanut butter & jelly sandwich later I got her to sleep at 3:30 am.  I got the official word at 5:15 am.  I got a hour and a half of sleep that night or should I say morning before the above big sister woke me up at 7:30 am.  We then headed to the hospital with EXCITEMENT!!!!!

Things have been a little crazy around here babysitting Rowan and two grand dogs.  We went shopping today to buy fancy shoes and a fancy dress for her big piano recital next weekend.   Her mom (my daughter Ashley and business partner) is a little busy right now to shop.  That is what grandmas are for!!!

Show and Tell

Susan Boyd sent me her version of my "Doo Da Daisy" pattern in this photo.  She made it for a friend that belongs to an organization called "Professional Education Opportunities" or PEO and asked if she would do a quilt for their silent auction fundraiser in April. She requested yellow, blue and white with daisies.  I thought she did a wonderful job!  Thanks Susan for sharing!

Mary Smith just finished my pattern "Planetary Party" and it the quilt is now hanging on her sons wall.  She did the blanket stitch by hand and she machine quilted it on her machine.  She has so far made 3 Snugly Bugly, 3 Happy Halloween, 1 Merry Christmas, and now 1 Planetary Party. Mary said she is having so much fun and is now addicted to applique! Thanks Mary for sharing!

I just found another toy doll baby buggy.  I immediately had to make the little blanket, pillow and mattress for it.  That is called playing the big girl way.

I found this cool bed frame for a guest room in my house at "Amy's Attic".  It is a great store here in town that has used furniture and antiques.  I always find things there.  My Mom made the red, white and blue quilt for me that is on the bed.  It is a Terry Atkinson pattern. We both made a churn dash quilt together and mine is on the foot of the bed.

We inherited the wicker sewing chair from my husband grandmother.  I framed the "Good Night" and "Good Morning" antique redwork pillow coverings for the wall.

My "Barnyard Buddies" fabric is tucked inside the little green cabinet on the dresser.

We only have four more cows to go to have their babies.  Yahoo!  I am in charge of the daytime checking.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter because I did.  The weather was beautiful.  Amy
