For all you garden lovers this is our brand new pattern "Garden Quilt". It is fourteen fusible appliqued blocks and four pieced Ohio star corner blocks. We put prairie points around the edge because I always wanted to do that on a quilt. This quilt was perfect for them.

This is the red and blue version of the "Garden Quilt".
I am now working on a third quilt. I will be repeating the pink version. We always make three of everything I design. They are always traveling around with quilt shops for shows and shop hops. I rarely get to see them the first two years that the pattern is out.
My friend Rosie Mayhew did the bucket of flowers block using striped and plaid fabric that came from old shirts. She collects all sorts of old shirts that she buys from thrift store and garage sales to cut up and make quilts. I love every one of the quilts that she has made from the shirts!
Our big quilt market was this last weekend and my daughter Ashley and I stayed home instead of attending. My son-in-law was in agreement to this. He would have been really busy with twins and a 5 year old for the five days that it takes to travel and attend quilt market.
Instead my husband and I attended a costume dance to benefit breast cancer awareness here in Lawrence. My cowboy/veterinarian showed up as a cowboy...how original. I came up with my costume in 5 minutes so I wasn't much better. I wish the photo of me showed the red and white polka dot dress that my mom wore in college. I wore these big red clip on earrings from the eighties. How did we ever wear clip on earrings?! My ears still hurt from wearing those darn things. We want to attend the event next year but I hope we will be a little bit more creative with our costumes.
This pink fire truck was out in front of the dance. Breast cancer survivors were signing the truck and the firemen were all dressed in pink.
I shot this photo of a pumpkin hay bale in Gridley, Kansas this week. This is a common decoration for Kansas. I doubt if you see these in downtown L.A., Las Vegas or New York City.
Leave a comment about your Halloween costume, a favorite decoration or a tradition for a chance to win one of my new "Garden Quilt" patterns. We will let you know who wins next week.
Have a great Halloween! Amy
