I just got back from one of my favorite things.  The Pilot Antique Sale here in Lawrence, Kansas.  I was able to get out this morning because my loving husband used the tractor to blade our driveway from the 9" of snow that we got yesterday.  I dropped off a piece of home-made pie at his veterinary clinic to thank him.  They sell pie with a home-made lunch at the antique sale.

I bought two new doll irons a yellow one and a little green one.  Here is a photo of the ones that I have found in the last few months.

I have never seen one of these ..... a gum guard!  I had to have it!  I wouldn't dream of putting a piece of gum on it.  I love that the little Indian is standing guard.  It is only 2 1/2" wide and cost me $10.00.  Love it!

I bought a couple of other things but will show you those later.

Back from Canada and a Give-a-way

I just had an amazing four days in Canada.  The group of women above made it possible.  I was invited by the Central Alberta Guild to come give workshops and a trunk show in Red Deer.  I sure hope I get to run into these women again.  What fun we had!   Thanks to Chris and all the members, I got the royal treatment.

The workshop was using my "Quilters Yearbook".  It is a book filled with face and shirt parts...glasses..noses..mouths...like a Mr. Potato Head for quilters.  You get to create your own faces.

Here are some of the blocks that they created.  They haven't had the blanket stitch done on them yet and that really makes them pop.

Wendy did this block.  I loved the fabric that she used.  It looks like she has highlights in her hair.

Patti created this grumpy one.  I love the flower in her hair.

Bev was making multicultural blocks.

Delores used the technique and made up this block of her grandson.

Delores also saved the day with her portable large light box that we all used.  It was made up of a cardboard cauliflower box, plexiglass and one of those under counter lights. Since I flew I couldn't bring mine so I was very pleased when I saw her carrying in her workshop supplies.

Bev and Deb brought these little pop up storage containers that work really well as a trash can on your sewing table.

They can flatten and fit anywhere.

Of all the irons I see at workshops I sure liked how big the ironing plate was on this little Rowenta iron.  The handle collapses down too.

Bev and Deb even made little bags to transport their hot irons in.

Before the trunk show Shirley and a group of the girls showed me around Red Deer.  I loved this "Sound the Alarm by Robert Spalth statue in front of the fire hall.

Now I just need my two suitcases.  They were still in Calgary when I arrived in Kansas City last night.  They were having a power outage at the Calgary airport.  I am just thankful that I am home even if my bags aren't.

I have a lot of fun decorating my husbands veterinary clinic.  The staff loves it and the clients ( at least the two-legged ones) enjoy it too. I love finding old chocolate boxes but I have not found one in for EVER!  I also love new ones preferably filled with chocolate for me to eat.  I have my favorites.  Anything creme, coconut or caramel will do.

I found this metal dachshund that I can write messages on with chalk awhile back.

I have a mailbox and a mail truck that were both full of cologne.  Remember your Grandma or Mom buying all those little novelty Avon decanters.

These are both salt and pepper shakers.  The one on the right just makes me smile!

I miss taking the kids to the store to pick out their valentines for the big valentine exchange and party.  It was such a difficult decision for them .... Pac Man or Strawberry Shortcake?  I love getting home-made valentines now.  Those are the ones to treasure.

This was my husbands early valentines.  I don't bake pies.  I bake a LOT just not pies.  This was a labor of love for my husband.

Free Fabric and Pattern Give-a-way

We just finished another baby quilt to travel around the country from my "Babies " pattern.  Yippee!  We try to make three of every quilt to travel.  It usually is booked for travel dates before we can get it done. Thanks to Kathy and Rosie for helping me once again!

You can also make this version of the "Babies" from the same pattern.

This pattern debuted at this last Fall Market in October.

It uses my new fabric line "Bundle of Joy" from Timeless Treasures.  It also has a pre-printed panel.  It is laying over the crib in the above photo.  I used the coordinates to make ABC pillow in the crib.

I just love babies!  I will be getting two new grandbabies in May.  My daughter Ashley is rocking twins!  My one and only granddaughter Rowan will be a big sister,

"Hair"

Last night my daughter Ashley and I enjoyed " Hair" the musical at the Kaufman center in Kansas City.  We have two more shows to the season "Mary Poppins" and "Stomp".  I can't wait to hear all the songs in "Mary Poppins".  We just revel in getting to see all these traveling Broadway shows.

My daughter is too young to recognize all the hits songs from the musical..."Aquarius"..."Hair"..."Good Morning Starshine"...    She did recognize "Let the Sunshine In".  I had fun laughing at all the costumes which I was once wearing in my youth.  If I only saved my fringed vest and purse!

I also labored over my embroidered and painted jeans like this pair.

Did you add fabric inserts to your jeans and decorative patches too?  We also added trim to the bottom of our jeans like this pair.

I also remember putting stickers like these all over my notebooks.

At the end of the musical one of the cast members sat beside me and tried to get me up on the stage to dance.  I was a party pooper and passed.  I did accept a daisy during the show when they handed me one. Also twice during the show I had dancers standing on the empty chairs beside me dancing.  It is good and bad that we sit five rows from the front!

Last night was definitely a stroll down memory lane.
