Quilters Care

Congrats!  The winner of last weeks Bountiful Beauties give-a-way is:
The Thimblemouse of Country Crossroads

I am always amazed (but not really surprised) at all the time and materials that quilters donate to support great causes.  Being a quilter seems to go along with having a big heart.  Just this week, we got two emails from two different quilt groups who made the Snugly Bugly quilt to donate to non-profit organizations.

This group of seven (Val , Carol , Lorriane, Sue, Val E, June  and Deanna) from Australia donated their quilt to the Ronald McDonald House, a great organization that helps families with sick children.  For more information: http://rmhc.org/what-we-do/ronald-mcdonald-house/

Kath made and donated this Snugly Bugly quilt for the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.  http://www.rch.org.au/rch/home.cfm

Jane made and donated this quilt to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind School.  The Guiding Eyes for the Blind School volunteers train and socialize puppies to better prepare the puppies to become guide dogs for the seeing impaired.  http://www.guidingeyes.org/

Debbi emailed us this picture of her Penguin Paradise quilt which was donated to benefit the Project Linus committee of the Illini Country Stitchers quilting guild.  http://www.projectlinus.org/

Lori and her quilting group, The Quilt Dreamers, made and donated the My Alphabet Quilt to their library.

We would love to hear what organizations you have made (or hope to make) quilts to benefit.  This week, we will choose one post to this entry at random on Friday April 13th and donate $100 to the non-profit of your choice.  Have a wonderful Easter weekend!  Amy

  2. Thank you for this post! I think everyone should help others. If you dont have money, time is helpful too.
I am a member of a small quilt group called Sew Little Timers. We make quilts for the foster kids in our county, Quilts of Honor, and Quilts of Valor.

  3. I hope to donate a quilt to the Quilts of Valor this year. I would love to do more, but don't have the time right now. Hopefully when I retire I can quilt more and donate both quilts and my time.

  4. If you cant afford to make the quilts for charity,, Quilts for kids will send them to you to make the quilts for them for free. They sent me a package of beautiful fabrics all precut and ready to go. You could always go there.
